The majority of collectors doll houses don’t come close to the size of a 5 ft doll house because they are built to a relatively small scale. The majority of doll houses that do come in this size for children are Barbie Fashion Houses.
Fashion houses are built for 16 inch dolls so the rooms and size of the houses are much larger than traditional doll houses. They are fun for children to play with because they tower over them and really give the impression of a large doll house. Plus they can of course play with their Barbie, Brats and other fashion dolls in these houses.
Traditional doll houses are built to 12th scale and their room heights average about 9 inches. To make one of these doll houses a 5 ft doll house would mean it would have to be six or seven rooms high which is not really practical.

Beautiful - This really is a beautiful doll house. It is more
like a real house in shape and the size and position of rooms and the
colors compliment Barbie herself and most little girls rooms.
Big - When I first saw the picture of the house I did not think
it was as large as some of the wooden Barbie houses available but it
is. Not quite a 5 ft doll house but it is over three feet tall and wider
than most doll houses.
Furniture - This house comes with absolutely loads of added
extras. There are over 60 pieces of furniture and accessories and this
is one thing that Mothers have said time and time again they were really
impressed with.
Gadgets - There are also lots of gadgets like a ringing door
bell and a toilet that flushes.
Assembly - There is very little assembly required and you will be able
to get this house ready on Christmas eve or the night before a Birthday.
Drawbacks - The only negative point I have about this house
is that it could be a little more durable. I think this is a compromise
worth making to get such a nice looking house with so many gadgets,
furniture and accessories.
This is a really funky Barbie dollhouse with brightly decorated walls
and floors. This house is perfect for the funky Bratz dolls as well as
Barbie.
Sturdy - Made from wood the Glamour doll house is sturdy enough
even for my little girl who loves to bash everything. If you want a
doll house that will last you can't go wrong with an Imaginarium doll
house.
Big - This house has six big rooms and is over 1.3 meters (that's
4.25 feet) tall. Taller than most little girls but not quite a 5 ft
doll house
Gadgets - A fun addition to this house is its lights and sounds.
Mirrors, lights, kitchen appliances and furniture make noises and light
up. This is a little added extra that children these days love.
Assembly - This house does need some assembly but is very basic
and any parent can knock this up on Christmas Eve or before a birthday.
Furniture - The house actually comes with all the furniture
included which I found great when giving it as a gift because the kids
can play right away with no fuss.
Drawbacks - There was only one thing I didn't like about this
house and that was that it doesn't have any stairs. This does mean there
is more room on each floor but my daughter does enjoy ramming dolls
up staircases.
This doll house has a traditional princess like feel to it with its light
colors and fairy tale windows.
Big - Not quite as big as the Glamour doll house but still
huge this house is 3 and half feet (just over 1 meter) tall. It is big
enough for two or three children to play at one time.
Sturdy - This house if anything is more sturdy than the Glamour
doll house, the upper floor verandah and internal stairs give it extra
stability. It can be bashed about and moved without damage. It is made
from wood.
For a Princess - We all like to think of our little angels
as Princesses and if your little girl has a Princess theme to her bedroom
this house will fit right in. It has great attention to detail in the
decoration which is all done in pastel colors and the side staircase
really makes it feel like the home of a little Princess.
Assembly - This house does need some assembly but is very basic
and any parent can knock this up on Christmas Eve or before a birthday.
Furniture - The So Suite dollhouse comes with furniture including
a roll top bath, chaise lounge and lilac bed. There is enough furniture
to keep your little ones happy so you don't have to worry about getting
furniture to fit in.
Drawbacks - The only criticism I have of this house is that
there are only four rooms. I would like to see five or six but it does
have the top floor patio which does act as another room.
Big - Perfectly sized for 12" fashion dolls, this large Barbie
dollhouse is filled with wooden furniture and is finished in the classic
style found among the stately homes of Savannah, Georgia.
Roomy - This dollhouse has 4 floors with a living room, bathroom,
kitchen, dining room, bedroom, porch with swing, balcony and attic.
Furniture - The dollhouse set also includes 14 pieces of traditional
furniture to get you started. This house is very reasonable priced for
it's size, quality and the amount of furniture you get with it.
For Young Ones - Recommended for ages 3 and up. Made from MDF
and solid wood so little ones can play safely.
Assembly - Some assembly is required but this is very simple.
Drawbacks - It was hard to find any but if I have to find one
it would be that the stairs are plastic and not wood.
Huge - This house is huge and has six very spacious rooms for
your little girl to play with. This is nearly a 5 ft doll house
Sturdy - Made from sturdy wood. Wooden houses are far superior
to the modern plastic doll houses and this Kidkraft doll house is one
of the best with value for money and quality.
Furniture - The furniture that accompanies the house includes
bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and living room furniture so plenty for your
little girl to play with.
Assembly - Easy to assemble even if you have never put anything
together before.
Value - One of the best value for money Barbie size houses
available and this house is also the most popular.
Drawbacks - Parents rate this as a five star 5 ft doll house
and as yet I have found no drawbacks.
