Book Case Doll House Plans

You can use book case doll house plans to create a functional and fun piece of furniture for your little girls room.

Book case doll houses can be quite expensive to buy but they are actually quite easy to make yourself. You don’t need many tools, just a jig saw and some wood glue, and you can build a really nice book case that fits in perfectly with your little girls room.

When building a bookcase from a plan there are several different types of wood you can use. The easiest to work with is the man made board MDF. This doesn’t splinter and has a very smooth surface for painting. You can also use a thick plywood. If you decide to use plywood make sure you scour the wood along the cut line before you cut it with the jig saw to avoid splintering.

Cut all of the pieces for the bookcase first before you start to put them together. Sand the edges to make sure they are all perfectly smooth. When you have all of the pieces ready you can start building. Glue one piece at a time and leave it to dry, you may find it helpful to use clamps to hold the pieces together.

When the bookcase is fully built you can either stain it if you have used a natural wood or you can paint it to match the colour of your little girls bedroom. Before you start painting make sure the surface is sanded smooth and that there are no dust particles left. Wipe it over with a damp cloth to remove any excess dust.

You should apply a paint primer to the wood first. This will help the paint stick and also give a hard wearing finish. Use a small radiator roller to apply the paint to avoid brush marks.
